New notice boards.

Llangunnor Community Council has invested in some new notice boards. The boards hold information on your local Council member together with dates of monthly meetings, the agenda of the forthcoming monthly meeting are also placed in them. The new notice boards are located at Nantycaws adjacent to the bus stop, and in Llangunnor Road again adjacent to the bus stop. When the Park development is completed a new one will be placed in the entrance. Should you wish to advertise your local event please contact the Clerk at clerc@llangynnwr-cc.org.cc.

 Community Speedwatch.

Dyfed-Powys Police have been working closely with its communities and partner agencies to develop a community speed watch initiative.

Community speed watch schemes aim to share the responsibility for addressing speed related offending between the community, the police and other agencies. The intention of this scheme is not to prosecute offenders but to raise awareness of the impact of speeding in specific areas identified by the community who live there.

Carmarthen Neighbourhood Policing team are now in a position to open up this opportunity for members of the Llangunnor community and will be looking for volunteers to take part to help make this initiative a success.

A big thank you to Charlies for donating the daffodil bulbs.

Improvements continue - The work in Llangunnor Park continues.

Following the installation of an outdoor gym, the extending of the footpath around the park and providing a path into Maes Lewis Morris, the Community Council have now replaced the broken rotator in the infants area and provided a new swing. All these improvements are designed to both increase the use of the park, and to improve the enjoyment by the residents of Llangunnor. Further improvements include the introduction of new seating and picnic benches, providing more rubbish bins and works to the entrance.

Vandals Attack Park Hut....

Llangunnor Community Council are very disappointed with the recent damage being done to the hut in the park; it has been there for many years and has been a meeting point for a generation of children. The Council plan to monitor what happens at the hut over the next few months. It has recently spent near to a £1000 carrying out repairs. If the damage continues it may be forced to consider its demolition! This is not what the Council want but it may not have any other option. It is up to its users to now decide its future!

A note from Mr Aled Davies, headmaster of Llangunnor School...

Dear Neighbours of Llangunnor School,

At times during the school day the traffic near Llangunnor School is very heavy due to the number of families bringing their children to our school and collecting them in the afternoon. I appreciate that this may cause difficulties for everybody driving past the school.

With the cooperation of our Parents, the Police and the Community Council, in an effort to ease the situation, we are promoting a VOLUNTARY one way system with the traffic travelling from the Babell Chapel end and towards Pobl Bach Nursery. This system is implemented during school term time only between 8:30 and 9:30 in the morning and then between 2:30 and 3:30 in the afternoon. Please see the diagram below.

We kindly ask for your cooperation by supporting our campaign.

Thank you very much.

Yours sincerely

Mr A. DaviesHeadteacher
